Sacred Synod

The Second Sacred Synod for clergy takes place at the Emmanuel Centre, Marsham Street, London SW1 on Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 October. All clerical members of Forward in Faith will shortly (if they haven’t already) receive Registration Forms from the PEV for their area. If one doesn’t reach you by the end of this month, be sure to call the Forward in Faith Office on (020) 7976 0727 and we’ll make sure one reaches you. In the meantime, please make sure that you have the dates firmly inked in in your diary!

That time of year again!

Yes, it is the time of year when we distribute to the membership our Treasurer’s Report for the past year, along with Renewal Forms for all those who pay their subscription other than by Banker’s Order. Please save Forward in Faith money by paying now, rather than leaving it for so long that we have to incur further costs in sending you a reminder!

Have you visited the Forward in Faith Website yet? In the last week, there were no less than 816 visits and, in total, those visitors looked at a staggering total of 4,137 different pages! Most went for the News pages, of course, but there were plenty of visits to the regularly updated Meditation page, and to all the pages that give information about Forward in Faith not just in the United Kingdom, but also in Australia and North America – details of our three National Councils and all our ‘official’ documents, to say nothing of the New Directions Archive. What we cannot know, of course, is how many of our visitors are members of Forward in Faith, although we do receive a number of new applications for membership as a result of the website. If you’ve never visited our Website, log on now to www.forwardinfaith.com

Forward in Faith Parish Websites

Does your parish have a website? And, if so, does it have a link to the Forward in Faith website? If not, please correct the omission! Some parish websites have outdated links to the previous Forward in Faith site – we’d be very grateful if members would cause their Webmasters to do the necessary correction as soon as possible.

And, in preparation for the next stage in the development of forwardinfaith.com, we need from you the URL for your parish website. In due course, we plan to link from our site to all Forward in Faith Parish Websites around the world, and the sooner we can have those addresses the better. Please e-mail them to forwardinfaith@compuserve.com as soon as you are able.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Forward in Faith East Wessex Regional Dean Fr Barry Fry on being appointed as a Canon of the Cathedral Chapter of the Diocese of Ruvuma, in the Anglican Church of Tanzania. Fr Fry has been for some time promoting a link between his Region and the Diocese of Ruvuma and its bishop, Dr Maternus Kapinga. Bishop Kapinga is a good friend of Forward in Faith; he was one of the concelebrants at Christ our Future in June 2000 and is currently one of the Vice-Presidents of the International Bishops’ Conference on Faith & Order – a coalition of orthodox bishops from around the worldwide Anglican Communion, which Forward in Faith, along with other Catholic Societies, is pleased to support financially.

Eight years on . . .

Who would have thought, sitting in Central Hall in September 1994, that eight years on, we would be planning the Ninth Forward in Faith National Assembly? It takes place at the Emmanuel Centre, Marsham Street, SW1 on Friday, 18 and Saturday, 19 October, 2002. It might be too early for you to send in the names of your delegates for the autumn, but it is most emphatically not too early for Forward in Faith Diocesan Assemblies to start thinking about who their delegates might be and what subjects they might hope the Assembly will address. That way, you may be ready to respond, when we decide we do want to hear from you!
