Celebrations galore!

Members of Forward in Faith will be spoiled for choice on Saturday, 23 September.

Priests and people from the Richborough Area will all be with Bishop Keith Newton at 12.00 noon at St Albans Abbey for a Festival of Faith – for full details, see the advertisement on page 22.

Meanwhile, at S.Alban’s, Holborn, FiF Chairman Bishop John Broadhurst will be celebrating the Tenth Anniversary of his Consecration and the Fortieth Anniversary of his Ordination to the Priesthood at 12.00 noon – for full details see the advertisement on this page.

Later that same afternoon, at 3.00 pm, Bishop Robert Ladds will be presiding at Mass at S.Silas, Kentish Town, as part of the celebrations of the Twenty-fifth Anniversary of his Ordination to the Priesthood.

Bishop Robert writes:

As I look towards Michaelmass and marking my Silver Jubilee of the Sacred Priesthood, I am conscious of two aspects of the occasion. In common with all called to Holy Orders, there is the sense of thanksgiving and awe before God and a consciousness of His Grace and Mercy. For me, there must also be the sense of one getting on in years yet relatively young in years of ministry! In extending an invitation to you to join with me in marking my Silver Jubilee, I am mindful of both dimensions – so requiring attempted humility coupled with a fulsome hope that some of you will be prepared to share with me.

Any arrangements can never meet all the requirements and expectations, but I hope what is being planned is appropriate. To reflect my south-eastern origins in the Rochester and Canterbury Dioceses and connections through Society of Mary and SSC, there is to be a Solemn Concelebrated Mass in London. Here in the north, where I have spent the majority of my ministry, I plan an Act of Thanksgiving in Hymns, Readings and Prayers, naturally, at Whitby.
