National Assembly
Members of Forward in Faith will gather at the Emmanuel Centre, Marsham Street, London SW1 on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 October for the fifteenth Forward in Faith National Assembly. We will gather in order to discern our way forward, following the disgraceful scenes at the General Synod in July. No doubt many of our detractors will expect us to concede, and give up the struggle for an equitable – a Christian – solution. In this – as in many things – they are, quite simply, wrong.
Immediate attention
Forward in Faith Branches and parishes should by now have let us know the names of all their delegates. Needless to say, not all of them have! It is most important that all branches and parishes should give this their attention immediately, so as to ease the burden on our hardpressed staff.
S.Alban the Martyr
For reasons beyond our control, it is again not possible for the National Assembly Mass to take place at Christ the King, Gordon Square.
It will instead take place in the historic church of S.Alban the Martyr, Holborn and the Council is again immensely grateful to the Vicar of S.Alban’s, Fr Howard Levett ssc, for his generous hospitality. We hope that we will be able to return to Gordon Square next year.
The end game is upon us
The Forward in Faith National Assembly has always been the key date in our annual calendar, but many of those entitled to attend have, over the years, failed to be present. Perhaps this year, as we meet in the knowledge that the end game is upon us, the absentees of the past might feel moved to assist us in the great task which we face. There can be no excuse for failure on the part of the delegates of any Registered Parish or Forward in Faith Diocesan branch to be present. If you are a delegate, ensure you will be there; and, if you are not a delegate, make sure that those who purport to represent you actually do so. Life or death If they cannot guarantee that they will be there, replace them, for now is not the time for any of our voices not to be heard. It is, after all, a matter of life or death!
