An Additional National Assembly…

Well over 400 delegates were present at our National Assembly in the Emmanuel Centre on Saturday, 14 February, in order to hear from members of General Synod what had transpired earlier that week, as the women bishops draft measure took another step along its path towards resolution.

Just one resolution was passed, which readers will find on page 6 of this issue of New Directions. The Editor hopes to commission a number of articles to follow on from Resolution 2009/01 aimed to assist FiF members in their study of Bishop Martyn’s words; watch this space!

Those who were not able to be at the Assembly can listen online to key speeches by Fr Simon Killwick (Chairman of the Catholic Group in General Synod), the Bishop of Chichester, Sister Anne Williams CA, Fr Jonathan Baker, Fr David Houlding, Fr Paul Benfield, Fr Alan Cooke, Fr David Waller, Mr Oswald Clark and the Bishop of Ebbsfleet, as well, of course, as contributions from the Bishop of Fulham and Fr Geoffrey Kirk. Just go to www.forwardinfaith. com/news/na09-02.html and follow the instructions you will find there.

Finally, please note the flow chart prepared for the assembly by Fr Benfield and reproduced here; all members of Forward in Faith need to be very aware of the current timetable, so that they are properly prepared for all that is to come.

And the next National Assembly…

If you have not already got the dates of this October’s National Assembly in your diary … now is the time to do sol

We will meet at the Emmanuel Centre on Friday, 23 October and Saturday, 24 October and we look forward to seeing even more of you then!

And finally…

All members of Forward in Faith will wish to hold Bishop Lindsay Urwin OGS in their prayers, as he is installed on Thursday, 19 March as the ninth Administrator of the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham. |~~
