You will notice that this edition of New DirectioNs has rather more photographs than normal. We hope that they illustrate that our constituency continues to flourish and to grow. We are grateful Graham Howard, known to many of you from the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham, for supplying many of the photographs and also to Tyler Hill and Paul Cartwright for their help with images for this edition.

Liam Beadle is the assistant curate at S. Andrew’s, Enfield, in the Diocese of London. He read Theology at Oxford and trained for the ordained ministry at Cranmer Hall, Durham. He has also recently been appointed as the publicity officer of Praxis.

The summer months are filled with many wonderful liturgical and spiritual celebrations. We hope that readers of this magazine will keep us up to date with all that is going on. A central event to our work of mission and evangelisation is the Walsingham Youth Pilgrimage which this year runs from the 1st to the 5th August and has taken as its theme ‘Alive with the Vision’. The Shrine is inviting those of us who might be too old to attend the pilgrimage (can you ever be too old?) or perhaps dislike sleeping under canvas to support the work of the pilgrimage and to become a Godparent for a Week and support financially and through prayer a teenager on the pilgrimage. The Shrine Priest, Fr Stephen Gallagher explains, ‘In an age when young people come under so many influences and not all of them welcomed, at

Walsingham it is always our prayer that they will come under the influence of the Holy Spirit. For a week at the beginning of August, through worship, music and silence; through study and teaching; through the encouragement of being with other young Christians, the teenagers who come here are flooded with the love of the Lord, and it often changes their lives.’ Please consider sponsoring a young person.
