National Assembly 2003
The following Resolutions were passed by the tenth Forward in Faith National Assembly, meeting in Westminster, 17/18 October, 2003
2003/01
This Assembly, having noted with much pleasure the recent meeting in the United Kingdom of the International Bishops’ Conference on Faith & Order, requests the Bishop of Beverley, as Vice President of the IBC, to convey on its behalf greetings to the President of the IBC and the assurance of the continuing support of Forward in Faith.
Proposed by the Council of Forward in Faith
2003/02
This Assembly thanks Cost of Conscience for its continuing support, and in particular for the publication of the recent pamphlet Believe it or not.
Proposed by the Council of Forward in Faith
2003/03
This Assembly requests the Council to give urgent consideration to a review of Forward in Faith’s regional organisation and representation of members and the free flow of information between the local and national levels.
Proposed by the Lincoln Area Assembly
2003/04
This Assembly requests the Council to investigate how best Forward in Faith’s image to outsiders might be improved, in order to encourage a growth in membership in the run up to the Free Province, if necessary engaging the services of a suitable Public Relations company to achieve this.
Proposed by Mrs Lindsey Worley
Seconded by the Reverend James Cope
2003/05
This Assembly rejoices that the Reverend Dr David Moyer SSC remains the Rector of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Rosemont. It salutes the courage of the Bishop of Pittsburgh and the Archbishop of Central Africa, under whose Licences he has ministered during the past twelve months. It gives thanks for the unstinting support given to Fr Moyer by both the Archbishop of Canterbury and by his predecessor. The Assembly also takes note of the letters regarding Fr Moyer written by the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church in the United States of America to the Bishop of Pennsylvania and recently released into the public domain; the Assembly applauds the stand taken by the Presiding Bishop in those letters, but deplores that fact that he singularly failed to act upon them in any discernable way.
Proposed by the Council of Forward in Faith
2003/06
This Assembly receives the Report of the Working Party on Regional Deans and notes that the Council has already taken steps to implement its recommendations.
Proposed by Dr Gill James
Seconded by the Reverend Canon Beaumont Brandie
2003/07
This Assembly receives with pleasure the Report given by the Principal of Pusey House, Oxford regarding his vision for the future of that institution. The Delegates to this Assembly commit themselves to taking such steps as they are able to help ensure that this vision is realized.
Proposed by the Reverend Dr Geoffrey Kirk
Seconded the Reverend David Houlding
